Phoenix Park  (Irish: Páirc an Fhionnuisce) is Dublin's playground, the largest urban enclosed park in Europe, with an area of 707 hectares, and is situated only 3 km west of the city centre, north of the River Liffey. Ornamental gardens, nature trails, and broad expanses of grassland, separated by avenues of trees, including oak, beech, pine, chestnut, and lime. Livestock graze peacefully on pasturelands, deer roam the forested areas, and horses romp on polo fields. The English name comes from the Irish "fionn uisce" meaning "clear water".
